Educators, Students & Schools
Cultivating wellness, connection, and positive mental health in school communities.
Drawing on my background in education, counselling, mindfulness, social-emotional learning, and creative and expressive arts, I offer customized programming for educators, students, and school communities.
Programming can be offered as a one-time workshop, multi-session series, or longer residency-style experience and adapted for different grade levels and classroom contexts. Offerings may focus on a particular area or bring several approaches together.
Mindfulness for Educators
Mindfulness for Educators offers an accessible introduction to mindfulness designed for the realities of working in schools. Sessions combine a research-informed understanding of what mindfulness is, how it works, and why it can be helpful with opportunities to experience practical mindfulness and self-regulation practices firsthand.
Depending on the length and needs of the group, sessions may explore practices such as breath and body awareness, mindful movement, sensory awareness, self-compassion, and ways of bringing mindfulness into everyday routines. Educators can also explore how practices may be adapted for use with students and within the classroom.
Available as 60-minute to 3-hour workshops, sessions can be tailored to the interests, experience, and professional development needs of a particular school or staff group.
Cultivating Wellness: Mindfulness-Based Retreats for Educators
Designed to support and recharge educators, Cultivating Wellness is a one-day professional development experience that creates space to slow down, reconnect, and explore practical approaches to well-being. Drawing from mindfulness, self-compassion, movement, reflection, and other experiential practices, the retreat combines opportunities for personal exploration with research-informed learning about stress, well-being, and self-regulation.
Participants are invited to experience a variety of practices firsthand, reflect on what supports their own well-being, and explore tools that can be integrated realistically into both their personal and professional lives. Practices and ideas may also be adapted for use with students, giving educators opportunities to consider how mindfulness and self-regulation can support the classroom and broader school community.
Cultivating Wellness can be offered as a one-day retreat or adapted into a 3–8 week series for educators who would benefit from more time for practice, reflection, discussion, and connection.
Mindfulness for Students
Mindfulness for Students offers age-appropriate, experiential opportunities for students to explore mindfulness and discover practices that can support attention, awareness, emotional regulation, stress reduction, and everyday well-being. Rather than simply talking about mindfulness, students are invited to try a variety of practices and notice for themselves what they experience and what may be useful.
Sessions may include breath and body awareness, mindful movement, sensory practices, creative activities, reflection, and practical strategies students can use in the classroom and everyday life. Practices are introduced with an emphasis on curiosity, choice, and experimentation, recognizing that different practices may be helpful for different students.
Creative & Expressive Arts for Students
Creative & Expressive Arts for Students invites students to explore creativity, self-expression, reflection, and connection through accessible, experiential arts-based activities. Sessions may draw from visual art, writing, movement, music, storytelling, theatre, mindfulness, and other forms of creative expression, with individual sessions focusing on one approach or bringing several together.
Activities emphasize the creative process rather than artistic skill or the finished product. Students are encouraged to experiment, make choices, and discover their own ways of participating, with no previous arts experience required. Depending on the focus of the session, creative and expressive arts experiences may support self-awareness, emotional expression, connection and belonging, creativity, and overall well-being.
Themes and activities can also be developed collaboratively with educators to connect with the needs, interests, or learning goals of a particular group.
Small-Group Student Programming
Small-group programming offers students a more personal, ongoing space to check in, connect, reflect, and build practical skills together. Groups can be developed around the needs of particular students or a shared area of focus, creating opportunities to explore experiences, emotions, relationships, stress, coping, and other aspects of everyday life.
Sessions may draw from mindfulness, social-emotional learning, creative and expressive arts, movement, writing, discussion, and reflection, depending on the needs and interests of the group. Rather than following a rigid curriculum, programming can respond to what is happening for students while providing enough continuity for connection, trust, and learning to develop over time. Depending on the purpose and needs of the group, programming may be offered as a wellness or skill-building experience or within a counselling framework.
Custom School Programming
Not every school, classroom, or community needs the same thing. I enjoy working collaboratively with educators and schools to develop custom programming shaped around the needs, interests, goals, and context of the people involved.
Programming might draw from mindfulness and self-regulation, expressive and creative arts, writing, movement, theatre, music, storytelling, reflection, connection-building, or other experiential practices. A program may focus more deeply on one area or weave several approaches together around a particular theme, question, learning goal, or community need. Programming can also be developed to complement school priorities, education plans, professional learning goals, or other areas of focus already identified within the school community.
